Software

Autocom offers several different vehicle diagnostic software products. They are developed for users in specific areas. Read about the content of the different software below.

You will also find information on how to make settings for the test reports, how to change the language, how to make a hardware configuration and more. You will also find a guide to the Secure Gateway portal.

Settings

Autocom offers several different softwares. All developed for users within each specific area.

CARS

CARS is a competent tool with features like System Identification, System Scan and System Update. You can quickly perform service features, troubleshooting, adjustments and activations on vehicle systems thanks to a unique vehicle database that includes both passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

GENERIC

GENERIC is a fast and reliable OBD tool for performing statutory exhaust-related vehicle diagnostics. The information is retrieved via the interface of the hardware for vehicle communication and can be used for both cars and goods vehicles. GENERIC is used for periodic vehicle inspections and mobile inspections out on the roads, as well as by police, armed forces and schools.

TRUCKS

TRUCKS is an effective workshop tool for diagnosing and servicing light and heavy goods vehicles, trailers and buses. Using System Identification, System Scan and System Update you quickly get a reliable diagnosis, with the focus on features such as troubleshooting, configuration, adjustment, and calibration.

Workshop information

Under the tab “Workshop” you can change/enter information about the workshop as well as add mechanics. This information is used, among others, when you print or save test reports.

Language

Under “Language” you can choose the language in which the program is displayed. Select the language and then press OK. The program will change language within a few seconds.

Hardware settings setup

Under the tab “Hardware configuration” you can set COM-port for the diagnostic unit as well as update connected diagnostic unit with new software (firmware). There are three ways to set the COM-port: “Search”, “USB/BT” and “Bluetooth”.

1. Search

If you choose “Search”, the program automatically search for a diagnostic unit to connect to and then show information about the diagnostic unit that was found.

2. USB/BT

In “USB/BT” mode it is possible to manually choose a specific COM-port. You can also test the connection by pressing “Test”.

3. Bluetooth

Bluetooth Direct is an option where the diagnostic software scans all Bluetooth devices to direct access the VCI.

Note that for all cases, the diagnostic unit must be configured to the computer as well as supplied with voltage (power).

If the software still can’t find a diagnostic unit, you may have to troubleshoot using the “Windows device manager”. In that case, contact your distributor for more information. Also see the chapter Computer configuration.

ICON Wi-Fi setup

Start the software and connect ICON to a power source (16-pin to vehicle).
Select the Wi-Fi option and click ‘Wi-Fi Setup’.

Please consult your IT administrator on how to set up a static IP address in your Wi-Fi network for ICON.
Make sure you connect your PC and ICON to the same network.
You will find your network details in the Windows 10 settings.
Select the available IP address for ICON and enter your Wi-Fi network details.

Fill in your details and click ‘Next’.

Connect the USB-cable between the PC and ICON to proceed with the configuration to the Wi-Fi-module.

When the configuration is complete click ‘Close’.
Disconnect the USB-cable and restart both software and ICON (reconnect 16-pin to vehicle for power supply).

The Wi-Fi setup is now completed.
The Wi-Fi icon in the upper right corner turns green when connected.

Please note that you need to restart the application and ICON when changing connection type: Bluetooth to Wi-Fi and vice versa. USB is priority when connected
