What data do we collect?
Autocom collects the following data:
- Personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number, etc.)
- VIN numbers of diagnosed vehicles
- Images of your national identification (driver’s license, ID or passport)
How do we collect your data?
You directly provide Autocom with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:
- Register online or place an order for any of our products or services
- Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback via email
- Use our diagnostic software
- Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies
How will we use your data?
Autocom collects your data so that we can:
- Process your order and manage your account
- Email you with special offers on other products and services we think you might like
- Identify which user or workshop serviced a specific vehicle, to aid investigations of misuse of diagnostic functions
If required by law or contract Autocom may transfer data to authorities or OEMs to aid in investigations of unauthorized or fraudulent use of our products.
- One example is Daimler AG, its subsidiaries and vicarious agents
When Autocom processes your order, it may send your data to, and also use the resulting information from, credit reference agencies to prevent fraudulent purchases.
How do we store your data?
Autocom securely stores your data in our CRM system, ERP system and email system. Your information is protected using technical and organizational controls, to minimize the risk of misuse.
Autocom also stores pseudonymized information about what user ID diagnosed a specific vehicle at a certain time. This information can be connected with a person if there is suspicion of misuse of the diagnostic software. This information is stored in encrypted log files. The key to connect the user ID with an identified person is only accessible to a limited number of administrators at Autocom.
Our data processor for user identification only keeps the images of your national identification long enough to verify that the registration information is correct. After that only a transaction number is stored, and all other records are erased. Autocom will keep information about vehicle diagnostics for a period of two years. After two years Autocom will delete all log records older than two years. Autocom will keep information about what person is connected with a specific user ID for a period of two years since the last active use of the software. Once this time period has expired, we will delete your data by destroying the key to connect the user ID with a person. Once a user ID is no longer identifiable, that user ID becomes invalid. Should you need to use the software again, you need to go through the identification process again and get a new user ID.
